The Mega-Ray mercury vapor bulb  160 watts is our top-of-the-range Self Ballasted  Flood Lamp that has been shown to generate comparable quantities of UVB to natural sunlight in tests! In most cases, the bulb provides a basking spot along with ample heat at the prescribed distances (additional lighting and heating should be considered if necessary). It facilitates vitamin D3 synthesis and prevents metabolic bone disease, promoting emotional well-being and movement due to very high levels of UVA. This original Mega-Ray design, the first bulb in the world to use an inner coating of translucent magnesium oxide, provides the requisite visible light, UVB, UVA, and heat for UVB-dependent basking reptiles. It has been shown to have the longest lasting UVB output of any other usable mercury vapor bulb for 10 years.
